Condition determines the starting scope
A localized repair, overlay and more extensive reconstruction are different requests. The pavement and underlying conditions need assessment before choosing among them. Tell CRL about recurring defects and previous work. A surface photograph cannot establish the base condition, material quantities or final construction method.
Preparation and removal are real parts of the job
Ask whether the proposal includes demolition, excavation, disposal, base preparation and edge work. If concealed conditions may change the scope, agree on how they will be reviewed and authorized. Two finished surfaces may look similar while their preparation and expected work differ substantially.
Drainage and adjacent work need definition
Identify drains, low spots, curbs, walks and entrances affected by the project. Related drainage, concrete or marking work should be listed explicitly. Design and permit requirements depend on the proposed job and location. Confirm those responsibilities before a construction schedule relies on them.
Occupied-site restrictions can affect planning
Describe delivery access, tenant hours, available staging space and any requested phasing. The contractor needs to know whether the site can close or must maintain selected routes. Do not assume that a particular reopening time applies to every material or weather condition. Request the agreed plan in writing.
Use a complete proposal comparison
Compare the same measured areas, preparation, materials, disposal and restoration items. Identify allowances and exclusions, then review how changes are priced. CRL has not supplied approved public ranges for this page. Send the address, plans, photographs and preferred project period for a review and written proposal.
Common questions
Can I use a generic per-square-foot price?
A generic rate may omit preparation, disposal, access or related work. Compare site-specific written scopes.
Is sealcoating the same as repairing failed pavement?
They are different scopes. Request an assessment of the observed condition before choosing a treatment.
Will the proposal include every related improvement?
Only the items stated in the accepted scope are included. Ask about drainage, curbs, striping and restoration.
